Hassel, C.F. - Root Cellar
Clear Fork Township
Arched cellar built into very slightly raised mound. Mostly underground with steep staircase now covered with slippery mud/dirt. It's located in an isolated area just near the boarder of Pottawatomie and Marshall counties half a mile north of Spring Creek township. It seems to have been a part of large compound of building that is now just stone foundations mostly hidden beneath dense tall grass. Apparently built to the west of what would have been a house on the property. Possibly beneath the house, but the grass makes it impossible to tell for sure. Seems likely the house was either moved or razed. The cave walks up to the east and measures 13'(L)7'(W)x8'(H).
