Sweany, Gordon - Root Cellar
This arched cave is built into flat ground with raised mound above it. The original homesteader who lived here isn't entirely clear but Gordon Sweany is the first name on the plat map showing a homestead on the site. The cave is located to the west of a two story wood frame house that the current owner (Hageman) says was built by his great grandparent well after the cave was built. He suggests that another house would have either stood above it or to the south of it. The cave itself is built right down to the bed rock and is located just south of a cistern. It faces south and measures 11.5'(L)x8'(W)x7.5'(H).
